SPF, which is an acronym for Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail safety system, which is is intended to validate if an email message is sent by an official server. Employing SPF protection for a particular domain will prevent the counterfeiting of email addresses generated with the domain. In simple words: activating this feature for a domain name generates a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that contains the IP of the servers which are permitted to send e-mail messages from mail boxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. When an email message is sent, the first DNS server it goes through verifies whether it originates from an approved server. If it does, it's forwarded to the destination address, however if it doesn't originate from a server listed in the SPF record for the domain, it's discarded. Thus nobody can mask an email address and make it appear as if you're sending spam messages. This method is also identified as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Web Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for any domain hosted in a web hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with no more than a few mouse-clicks. The feature is available in the Emails section of our hi-tech Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to activate it is to pick one of your domains from a drop-down list and to type in the hostnames along with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers which will be approved to send messages from your email addresses. As an additional option you can also restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain only when it has our MX records, in other words when our servers handle the email addresses for it, not a third-party provider. This feature provides you with the top standard of security, but it's not applicable when only your website is on our servers while your emails for the domain name are handled elsewhere. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses safe from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection function is featured with all the semi-dedicated servers, so in case you host your domain names in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you are able to activate this service easily for any of your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a very easy to work with interface, therefore you won't need to be tech-savvy in order to secure your e-mail addresses. You'll simply need to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you'd like to be permitted to send e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the new record will be activated for the domain that you've selected. As an extra option, we'll also allow you to limit the outgoing e-mail messages and secure your mailboxes even better by allowing e-mail messages to be sent only when the domain name involved contains our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain have to be taken care of by us and not by another company. By doing so you will enjoy even better control and there won't be a chance for any person to forge your e-mail addresses for malicious uses.
